Analysis on China Titanium Dioxide Production Data of May 2023
According to the statistics data from LYDD, the production of titanium dioxide in China in May 2023 was 337,200 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 4.57%, a year-on-year increase of 2.0%. The accumulated production of titanium dioxide from January to May was 1,657,300 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 3.08%.
In May, some manufacturers faced great production and inventory pressures, combined with equipment issues, resulting in companies limiting and stopping production, causing a slight decrease in market output.
The top three regions in terms of production volume in March were Sichuan Province, Henan Province, and Shandong Province, accounting for 21%, 15%, and 14% of total production respectively.
Chlorination process titanium dioxide production was 54,700 tons in May, and the accumulated production from January to May 2023 was 264,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 10.88%. Some chlorination process companies reduced production and stopped production in May due to market impact, resulting in a small decrease in market output.
The titanium dioxide market price was chaotic in May, with high pressure for enterprise shipments and intense market competition, causing the titanium dioxide price to continuously decline. Some companies' cost pressures were alleviated due to falling raw material prices, and these companies planned to resume production in June, but due to overall market weakness, more than 20 companies in the industry did not start production, resulting in great market operating pressure for the titanium dioxide market.
