Analysis on China Titanium Dioxide Production Data from January to June in 2022
According to the statistics data from LYDD, the production of titanium dioxide in China in June 2022 was 343,800 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 1.17%, and a year-on-year increase of 6.76%. The accumulated production of titanium dioxide from January to June 2022 was 2,069,100 tons, a year-on-year increase of 8%, with a production increase of about 157,500 tons.
The domestic production of titanium dioxide in June remained basically the same compared with the previous month, with some regions experiencing both increases and decreases in production. The downstream market remained sluggish and there was a decrease in demand for titanium dioxide, resulting in significant market pressure. Some companies even had to stop production, resulting in a small decline in regional production.
The top three regions in terms of production in June were Sichuan Province, Shandong Province, and Henan Province, which accounted for 22%, 15%, and 14% of total production respectively.
The production of titanium dioxide by the chlorination process in June was 50,200 tons, an increase of 2% from May.
The titanium dioxide market is currently in a low season and the market is quite chaotic, with a continuously declining enterprise prices. The current market price has fallen by over 1,000 yuan per ton, but the end market remained sluggish, resulting in significant pressure on enterprises. Due to market and inventory pressure, some companies have reduced production and it is expected that production in July will slightly decline.
