On May 9, 2023, the Ministry of Economy of Mexico issued an announcement, making a preliminary anti-dumping determination on the rigid Polyvinyl Chloride PVC originating in China, regardless of the import source, and ruling to impose 57.63% of the provisional Anti-Dumping Duty duty on the Polyvinyl Chloride PVC products involved. The polyvinyl chloride PVC products involved are rigid polyvinyl chloride PVC rolls, polyvinyl chloride PVC sheets, polyvinyl chloride PVC films, and polyvinyl chloride PVC flat strips with a plasticizer content of less than 6%, transparent or colored, single layer, polymerized with other monomers, and products under TIGIE tax number 3920.49.99. The announcement shall take effect from the day after its release.
Mexico only increases the tariff on PVC produced in China. We can export the goods to Malaysia first, and then export them to Mexico through Malaysian companies. We can apply for Malaysian certificate of origin to reduce the import tariff on Mexican customers.
