Expansion of PA and PBT capacity
Recently, it was announced that BASF (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd will expand the production capacity of its Ultramid? polyamide (PA) and Ultradur? polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) products by 5,000 tons per year. The engineering plastics market in ASEAN is expected to grow at an annual rate of about 5% between 2020-2030. This growth is driven by increasing demand for engineering plastics in different industry segments such as automotive, consumer electronics, electrical and electronics.
The production site in Pasir Gudang, Malaysia was established in 1999. This engineering plastics compounding plant produces Ultramid? PA and Ultradur? PBT.
Ultramid? PA and Ultradur? PBT are used in automotive applications, the electrical and electronic sector, industrial products and consumer goods.
Expand antioxidant capacity
In addition to expanding production in Malaysia, on May 17, BASF announced on its official website that it has increased the production capacity of antioxidant Irganox? 1010 at its production base in Jurong Island, Singapore, and an additional production line has been integrated into the existing production facility. .

Irganox? 1010 is a polybasic hindered phenolic antioxidant. It provides protection against thermo-oxidative degradation and is mainly used in polyolefins, but is also recommended for polyacetals, polyamides and polyurethanes, polyesters, PVC, ABS, and elastomers such as butyl and synthetic rubbers.
Expansion of Automotive Coatings Application Center
In addition to expanding production capacity, today, May 26, BASF also announced on its official website that it has expanded its automotive coatings application center in Mangalore, India.
As an integral part of BASF's existing R&D facilities for automotive coating solutions, the Automotive Coatings Application Center covers an area of ??more than 400 square meters and is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment such as high-precision spray booth temperature and humidity control and electrostatic spin coaters, and Advanced quick connect system for electrostatic applications. The facility has been carefully designed to enable customer-oriented R&D activities while accurately simulating an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) paint shop.
