Shanghai Maritime University and Weifang College Summer Social Practice Team Walk into Bohai Bay Port

Recently, the summer social practice team from Shanghai Maritime University and Weifang University went to Bohai Bay Port of Shandong Port for summer social practice. Focusing on industry-education integration and school-enterprise collaborative education, Bohai Bay Port fully integrated the practice of zero-carbon port construction, opened frontline production scenarios, showcased innovative development achievements, and organized in-depth school-enterprise exchanges, turning the port site into a "practice classroom" for young students, promoting a close connection between university talent cultivation and the actual needs of the port and shipping industry.

As the implementation unit of the key project "Thousand Enterprises and Hundred Ports" summer social practice of Shanghai Maritime University, Bohai Bay Port tailored a study route for the practice team, focusing on zero-carbon ports, smart ports, and port and shipping talent cultivation.

Teachers and students visited the production frontlines of Weifang Port Area, conducting on-site visits to projects such as onshore distributed wind power and the integrated "production, transmission, storage, and use" of green hydrogen. Technicians explained the operation model of the multi-energy complementary energy system and the application scenarios of smart energy management, combining project construction and actual operation. From wind power facilities to green hydrogen projects, from the dispatch center to the port frontlines, the real production scenarios made the concepts of "green ports" and "smart ports" from textbooks tangible and perceptible. The practice team also visited the customs clearance center to learn about the "dual-center" operation model of the smart port, experiencing the digital and intelligent transformation of the port up close.

Beyond on-site study, a school-enterprise seminar further deepened the exchange. Key personnel from Bohai Bay Port shared practical experiences on zero-carbon port construction, multi-energy integration of wind, solar, and hydrogen storage, and smart port construction. They also engaged with teachers and students on industry development trends and changes in talent demand, providing references from the industry frontline for universities to optimize talent cultivation and broadening channels for the port to deepen cooperation in talent and technology fields.

The practice team successively visited the Hydrogen Energy Science Popularization Base in Weifang City and the exhibition hall of the Bohai Bay Shipping Center of Shandong Port. From the hydrogen energy industry chain to the development history of the port, they gained further insights into the collaborative practice of green port transformation and local industrial development. "Seeing the future of port and shipping at the dockside, we truly felt that serving the country through shipping is not just a slogan but a tangible industrial endeavor," said a team member.

From the classroom to the dock, from theory to industry, this summer social practice not only opened a window for young students to observe the modern port and shipping industry but also further deepened the exchange and cooperation between Bohai Bay Port and universities. Next, Bohai Bay Port will continue to deepen school-enterprise collaboration, leverage the advantages of the port industry practice platform, and promote better alignment of talent cultivation, technical exchange, and industry needs, gathering more youthful energy for port construction.
